AUS vs IND 2nd Test, Prediction & Betting Tips
Australia humiliated India in the Adelaide Test and Ajinkya Rahane’s men will will be determined to salvage their lost pride when they take on the hosts in the crucial Boxing day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The match scheduled to get underway on 26th December at 10:30 local time.
India wouldn’t have anticipated the humiliation that Australia handed them in the first Test. They were bowled out for their lowest score in history of the game and now have a mammoth task of halting the Australian juggernaut. With their back against the wall, will they be able to do that? It’s looks difficult but definitely they’re a team capable of bouncing back.
If reports are to be believed Australia is most likely to field the same XI for the Boxing Day test as David Warner and Sean Abbott has been ruled out for the next game as well. As we saw in the first Test, there are some vulnerabilities in the Australian batting line up which India could exploit. But with no Shami, and Bumrah not in the best of form, it’s won’t be that easy.
Joe Burns got himself a brisk half century in the second innings which is a good sign. Similarly, Tim Paine’s fighting knock in the first inning will also boost Australia’s confidence. Even though Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne didn’t had the best of the match, we all know that they’ll come back stronger in the next game.
The bowling was ruthless in the first match and will continue to pose a stern challenge to the Indian batting. Overall, Australia looks very strong to go 2-0 up in the series.
For India, things are not looking very promising. Their skipper and their main batsmen Virat Kohli has returned to India for the birth of their first child. They suffered another massive blow after their ace pacer Mohammed Shami suffered a wrist fracture in the first match and has been ruled out of the series.
The loss of Shami is even a bigger issue for Ajinkya Rahane as with Bumrah not in the best of form, their bowling looks very bleak.
India have announced their playing XI ahead of the Test match and there are plenty of changes. Shubhman Gill will make his Test debut and will replace Prithvi Shaw. Ravindra Jadeja will also make a cut into the team as a specialist all rounder. Mohammed Siraj will replace Mohammed Shami while Rishabh Pant will get an opportunity in place of Wriddhiman Saha. Indian batting is not in the best of form and against a quality Australian bowling, things won’t be easy. If India have to challenge Australia, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane will have to play a big role.
Overall, the balance of the match is heavily tilted in favour of Australia but India is a class team and we expect them to perform better in the next game.
