Our Pick India are favourites to win
Australia will take on India in the 2nd match ODI series on Sunday. The match will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and is scheduled to begin at 2:40 PM local time.
What promised to be a high voltage encounter turned out to be a pretty dull, one sided affair in favour of Australia, but India is a quality side and with series on the line, they’re expected to bounce back in the second ODI.
Australia were terrific with the bat with David Warner and Aaron Finch setting the tone for a massive score. They were sensible at the start and played with caution before launching a brutal assault after the 30th Over.
Aaron Finch continued his good form and went to notch up his 17th hundred. David Warner departed to a controversial decision for 69 but Steve Smith carried on his love affair with India and decimated the Indian bowlers in a breath taking 66 ball 105.
Maxwell provided the finishing push as Australia ended their inning for a mammoth 374. Australia batting at the moment look very strong and Indian bowlers have a big task on their hands.
In the bowling department, Josh Hazelwood and Adam Zampa were standout performers. The duo picked up 7 off the 8 wickets to fall in Indian innings.
Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins were expensive but they can be expected to fair better in the next match.
The problem for Indian batting was their execution of the chase. Their batting was decent enough to chase the score but it seemed they went too hard too soon. Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul all got out playing big shots.
Only if they would’ve batted a little sensibly, they might have stood a chance. Hardik Pandya was the pick of the Indian batsmen as he torn apart the Australian bowling, especially the spinners and kept India in the hunt.
The bowlers had a miserable day with all them taken to cleaners by the Australian batsmen. They need to find the right length if they’re to trouble this Australian unit.
One bad performance doesn’t make India a bad team and we expect that they’ll come back stronger in the next game.
