If the pitch has a bit of a green top, bowling first may be key. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the first game, and Australia may put them in for this second test.

AUS Team News
James Pattinson is available again after missing the first match through suspension, though Australia could be tempted to stick with the same pace attack – Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood – after they took 18 of Australia’s 20 wickets in the first test between them. Tim Paine has also suggested consistency will be key at the top of the batting order too, though performances in the first match meant that always looked likely too.
AUS Key Players
Steve Smith: While he only faced ten balls, and had just one scoring shot, in the first test, Smith arrived at this series as the world’s number one batsmen and in stunning form. He was outshone in the first test, so this is his chance to clock another big total too.
Pat Cummins: The world number one test bowler took five wickets across the two innings in the first test, moving to 128 wickets in 26 tests for Australia. He was previously their top wicket-taker at the Ashes too.
Mitchell Starc: Claimed 4-52 in the first innings against Pakistan and then 3-73 in the second, to continue the good form he had showed with New South Wales too. Having re-established himself in the pace attack, he can look to add to his 222 test wickets.
AUS Team Form
Australia opened the series, their first since the Ashes were drawn 2-2, in dominant form. Mitchell Starc’s four wickets helped bowl Pakistan out for 240, and Australia were just one down in reply when they took the lead, as David Warner (154), Joe Burns (97) and Marnus Labuschagne (185) all dominated with the bat. They finished 580 all out, and then bowled Pakistan out for 335 in the second innings to win by an innings and five runs.
Australia Predicted Playing 11
David Warner, Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine (c, wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon

PAK Team News
After being a surprise omission for the first match, Mohammad Abbas is set to return to bowl with the pink ball in this second test. There could also be changes in the batting line-up, with Haris Sohail struggling at number three.
PAK Key Players
Babar Azam: Out cheap in the first innings, but continued his good form with his second test century in the second innings. He had previously been in dominant batting form in the warm-up games too.
Asad Shafiq: Continued the form he showed in the warm-up games with 76 in the first innings as he looked to build in the middle order. He is looking to add to his 12 test-match centuries.
Mohammad Abbas: Bowled superby when these teams last met, with Australian players expressing their surprise he was not picked for the first test. Pakistan are unlikely to make that mistake again.
PAK Team Form
The first test was Pakistan’s first in the ICC World Test Championship and they never really recovered from collapsing from 75/0 to 78/4 in the first innings. They eventually posted 240 all out, but then toiled with the ball to concede a 340-run lead, and Babar Azam’s century (and 95 from Mohammad Rizwan) could not prevent Pakistan being bowled out for 335.
Pakistan Predicted Playing 11
Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Azhar Ali (c), Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Shaheen Afridi, Yasir Shah, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Abbas
Australia vs Pakistan Head to Head
Australia’s innings win in the first test was their 32nd in 65 previous matches against Pakistan. Pakistan had actually won their previous meeting, with Mohmmad Abbas in fine form on his way to a ten-wicket match, but with Abbas left out of the first match of this series, Australia’s batsmen starred. David Warner hit 154, Joe Burns added 97 and then Marnus Labuschagne 185 as Australia took total control. Their total of 580 enough to secure an innings-and-five-runs win despite Babar Azam’s second-innings century for Pakistan.
