A three match ODI series between Australia and New Zealand gets underway at the Cazalys Stadium, Cairns on Tuesday afternoon. Australia beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in a recent ODI series which concluded on Saturday. New Zealand beat West Indies by the same margin last month. Australia suffered a shock defeat to Zimbabwe, their first on home soil to the opponents, in this format on Saturday. However, they were in excellent form during the rest of the series and will be strong in this series opener.
New Zealand have had a very successful couple of months touring Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and West Indies. Although they won series in all of those countries, this series against Australia will be far tougher.
