Toss Prediction
This will be the first test match played at the new stadium in Perth and a drop-in pitch will be used for this game. Since the pitch is expected to develop some cracks after day three which will also bring the spinners into play, the toss-winning team is more likely to bat first.

Australia Team News & Playing 11
AUS Team News
Australia, despite facing defeat in the first test, may come up with an unchanged playing eleven at Perth. This means all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who is waiting eagerly for an opportunity in the reserves, could be watching the proceedings from the sidelines once again. However, the hosts could make a few changes in their batting order.
AUS Key Players
Shaun Marsh, Travis Head and Tim Paine were the only positives from the Australian batting group in the first test. With Aaron Finch looking vulnerable against the new-ball bowlers and Marcus Harris lacking the experience, the onus will be on these three batsmen to score runs for them. Travis Head who top-scored with 72 in the first innings and Shaun Marsh who scored 60 in the second will be expected to make healthy contributions once again. With the ball, Australia will back their pace trio of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins to make early in-roads into the Indian batting line-up. Hazlewood took a match-haul of four wickets in the last game and he seems to be the biggest threat in this bowling attack. He has great control over his line and length and is more likely to find the outside edges of the batsmen. Cummins should get the ball to bounce from a length while Starc, who was clearly below-par last time, is expected to produce better results on this spicy Perth pitch.
AUS Recent Form
The 31-run loss at the Adelaide Oval was Australia's fifth defeat in the eight test matches they have played this year. They will now be going into the second test without a win in their last six matches. The hosts squandered a fantastic opportunity to take the game away from India after knocking them over for 250 in their first innings. Instead of gaining a lead, they ended up conceding one as their batsmen faltered against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.
Australia Predicted Playing 11
Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine (c/wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
India Team News & Playing 11
IND Team News
Prithvi Shaw, who had picked up an ankle injury during the warm-up game versus Cricket Australia XI, is recovering faster than expected but the young opening batsman is unlikely to be 100% fit to play the second test at Perth. This means another opportunity for Murali Vijay and KL Rahul to open the Indian innings. Despite the pitch being conducive to pace bowling, the visitors may resist the temptation to drop Ravichandran Ashwin and go in with an all-pace attack. So we expect India to retain the entire line-up from the Adelaide test.
IND Key Players
India's batting will depend largely on how Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane go about their business. Kohli has been the run-machine for his side across all formats and he is currently the world's best batsman in test cricket. Pujara showed great resilience in the first test, scoring 123 and 71 in the respective innings and he will be expected to continue his good form. Rahane will gain a lot of confidence from his 70 in the second innings and he will look to come out with a more positive intent. In terms of bowling, it will be up to the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami to take quick wickets and peg Australia back early in their innings. Bumrah notched up three wickets in both the innings and he will be even more threatening at Perth. Ishant too kept hitting the right areas and he will look to maintain the pressure from the other end. Shami found his rhythm back in the second innings and he too will test the Australian batsmen.
IND Recent Form
India have now won six and lost as many tests out of the twelve they have played so far this year. They came into this series on the back of a 2-0 sweep over the West Indies which means that they have now won their last three matches on the bounce. After a disappointing batting effort in the first innings of the Adelaide test, they showed better skills and determination with the bat in the second innings to tilt the game in their favor.
India Predicted Playing 11
Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk), Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah
