Toss Prediction

Toss will be key at the Adelaide Oval. The ground sports a pitch that has generally been very good for batting, especially during the first period of play. And also since five of the last eight one-day internationals played here have been won by the side batting first, the toss-winning skipper will be tempted to bat first.

Australia Team News & Playing 11

AUS Team News

Australia, despite winning the first ODI, might make a change or two in their line-up for the second game. Mitchell Marsh, who missed the opening match due to gastritis, has recovered and the all-rounder could be drafted into the playing eleven in place of Glenn Maxwell. Peter Siddle looked out of sorts with the ball and he could be replaced by leg-spinner Adam Zampa. With Marsh fully fit, the hosts have released his back-up Ashton Turner from the squad to play for Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League.

AUS Key Players

Aaron Finch is struggling to make an impact with the bat and Alex Carey is fairly inexperienced at the international level. So Australia's batting is going to rely heavily on Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb. All three cracked half-centuries at the SCG and the team will expect them to make sizeable contributions once again. Marsh has an ODI fifty at the Adelaide Oval and he is more likely to top-score for Australia. Jason Behrendorff and Jhye Richardson ripped through the Indian top-order last time and the pace duo will be the biggest threat for the visitors when it comes to bowling. The former took two wickets on debut while the latter claimed a four-wicket haul. Nathan Lyon bowled well in patches and the hosts will want him to lend good support to Behrendorff and Richardson.

AUS Recent Form

Australia finally managed to end their drought of wins in ODI cricket with a convincing 34-run victory against India in the series opener at the SCG. This was just their third win in the last fourteen one-day internationals which clearly shows how much they have struggled to win games in the fifty-over format in recent times. It was a collective batting display from the Aussies at Sydney and their pacers were brilliant as they derailed India's run-chase in just the fourth over of their innings.

Australia Predicted Playing 11

Aaron Finch (c), Alex Carey (wk), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell/Mitchell Marsh, Nathan Lyon, Peter Siddle/Adam Zampa, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff

India Team News & Playing 11

IND Team News

Batsman Shubman Gill and all-rounder Vijay Shankar have flown in as replacements for the suspended duo of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. Pandya and Rahul have been sent back home after their comments on a TV chat show were found objectionable. While Gill will be joining the team only for the New Zealand tour, Shankar will be a part of the squad for the remaining two one-dayers. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be handed his ODI debut on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu who was reported for a suspect bowling action during the first ODI has been permitted to bowl until his test results are out.

IND Key Players

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are the big guns in this Indian batting line-up. Rohit looked in imperious form last time but unfortunately his knock of 133 went in vain. Kohli and Dhawan have a century and a fifty respectively at this ground in ODIs. Both were removed cheaply in Sydney and they will be looking to make amends here. Dhoni too has a couple of half-centuries at the Adelaide Oval and a fifty in the last game would have boosted his confidence. India will be counting on the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja to do the job with the ball. Shami finished with the most economical figures and he even has a four-wicket haul in the only ODI he has played at this ground. Bhuvneshwar and Kuldeep both took two wickets apiece and they will be the key for India during the first powerplay and the middle overs respectively.

IND Recent Form

India came into this series on the back of an Asia Cup triumph and a 3-1 win over the West Indies at home. But they failed to keep their winning momentum going and started the new year on a losing note in the ODI format. The visitors now have eight wins, two ties and as many losses from their last twelve one-day internationals. Though they did reasonably well with the ball last time, their top-order batsmen faltered which cost them the game.

India Predicted Playing 11

Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, K Khaleel Ahmed

Australia vs India Head to Head

Australia and India have now played 119 one-day internationals against each other with the former winning 74 of those and the latter 45.

Australia have faced India five times at the Adelaide Oval in the fifty-over format and have emerged victorious on four occasions.

However, India secured a four-wicket win the last time these two countries faced-off in an ODI at this venue in February 2012. Australia scored 269/8 in their 50 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Gautam Gambhir's 92 and MS Dhoni's unbeaten 44 then got India over the line with just two balls to spare.

Matches Played: 119; Australia Won: 74; India Won: 45

Australia vs India Betting Odds

India, despite being beaten in the first ODI, begin as the bookmakers' favorites to win at Adelaide and they are being offered at odds of 1.73 on Betfair and 1.66 on both Betway and Bet365. Australia find themselves as the underdogs for this game at higher odds of 2.10 on Betway, 2.20 on Bet365 and 2.34 on Betfair.

🏆 Australia vs India Prediction

Australia were absolutely brilliant with the ball at Sydney and their pacers sealed the game in the first five overs of the Indian innings. They are now on the verge of winning their first ODI series in two years and will be going into this game all pumped up. The Adelaide Oval has been a happy hunting ground for them in ODIs and they have even won their last five matches played here. However, the hosts will be aware that they have not been able to register back-to-back ODI wins since February 2017. India, on the other hand, are under pressure but they will gain confidence from the fact that they have beaten Australia in their last ODI meeting at this ground. The visitors failed to deliver with the bat on the previous occasion but we expect them to hit back hard and produce a series-leveling performance on Tuesday.

Final Verdict: Back India to beat Australia in the second ODI at 1.73 with Betfair and 1.66 with both Betway and Bet365.
