Auckland vs Wellington, Super Smash 2021
Auckland have been very disappointing in the tournament, winning just two of their 9 matches. They did had a decent team but unfortunately the players didn't live up to their reputation.
Players like Sean Solia, Glenn Phillips, William O Donnell, Robert O'Donnell, Mark Chapman are reputed T-20 players but they've been far too inconsistent. Also, they've failed to play big innings even after getting starts in many of their matches. As a result, Auckland have been short of runs in most matches.
Auckland bowlers were on fire against Otago and dismissed them for a paltry 80 with Kyle Jamieson leading the charge with 3 wickets. William Somerville too continued his good run and picked two wickets. Ross Ter Braak, Louis Delport and Danru Ferns bowler well too. Wellington has a very strong batting line up thus the bowlers once need to be at the top of their game.
The batsmen also will have to bat well. As said Auckland have a decent team and if they can play to their potential, they can beat any team in the competition.
Coming to Wellington, they've been sensational and have already made it to the final of the tournament. Finn Allen has been terrific form them. Devon Conway, Tom Blundell, Troy Johnson, Michael Bracewell forms a solid batting order. The kind of form these players are, Auckland bowlers will have a big task on their hands.
A lot of credit must be given the Wellington bowlers who've been very disciplined and never allowed the opposition to run away with the game. All of Hemish Bennett, Logan van Beek, Ben Sears, Michael Bracewell, Peter Younghusband have bowler brilliantly.
Overall, Wellington have a much stronger team and the kind of form their players are in, they're the favourites for this match.

It will be Auckland’s last match of this season and they’d like to finish on a high. They’re already playing their best XI thus we don’t see them making any changes in the team
AUK Key Players
- Sean Solia - Sean Solia is the leading run-scorer for the Auckland with 249 runs in 9 games. He was in very good form in the first half of the tournament but lost some form later. He’ll look to play a good knock in the next match.
- Glenn Phillips - Glenn Phillips is a batsman that can take the game away from the opposition in no time. He’s not had a good tournament but if gets going Auckland will be in a very good position
- William Somerville - William Somerville has been very consistent for the Aces and is their highest wicket taker with 12 wickets in 9 games. He needs to have a good game if Auckland have to restrict a strong Wellington batting line up.
AUK Team Form
Auckland have had a poor tournament and have lost 7 of their 9 matches. However, they thrashed Otago by 103 runs in the last match.

- Fin Allen - Finn Allen has been sensational in the tournament. He’s the highest run getter of the Super Smash 2020-21 with 423 runs in 9 games at an average of 423 and a strike rate of 194. The kind of form he’s in, he’ll score runs even in his sleep. We expect him to continue his good run.
- Devon Conway- Devon Conway has also been magnificent with the bat. In the last game against Central Districts, he batted well for his 69. He’ll look to play well in the next game as well.
