Who will win Afghanistan vs West Indies, 2nd ODI 2019?
Afghanistan will lose their first post-World Cup ODI series to the West Indies unless they can arrest their losing streak in the second game of this series. The match, at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, takes place on November 9 and the live action is scheduled to start at 14:00 local time.
As with their meeting at the World Cup – Afghanistan’s most recent ODI before this series – Rahmat Shah and Ikram Alikhil hit half-centuries but could not stop them sliding to defeat. They were bowled out for 194, having been 126/2 in the 27th over.
West Indies’ bowling effort was led by former captain Jason Holder, who claimed 2-21 from ten overs, before Roston Chase took centre-stage with the bat. Any suggestions the West Indies could find the target tricky were obliterated when Chase smashed 94 from 115 runs in a seven-wicket win. They are now favourites to win this series.

With neither Hazratullah Zazai nor Javed Ahmadi scoring runs at the top of the order, Afghanisrtan could revert to their World Cup tactic of Gulbadin Naib up the order with in-form Rahmat Shah. Hazratullah’s lack of runs during the World Cup and now since has been one of their major concerns.
AFG Key Players
Rashid Khan: Bowled 36 dot balls in the last game, but also got hit for four boundaries and finished wicketless. The newly-appointed Afghanistan captain is capable of so much more – as proved by his 131 wickets in 65 ODI innings.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman: Opened the bowling and took the two wickets he needed to move to 60 in ODI cricket. He has outshone Rashid Khan lately, to highlight just how big a player he has become in this team.
Rahmat Shah: Scored a half-century when these teams met at the last World Cup, added 47 in the warm-up game and then top-scored for Afghanistan with 61 last time out. It was his 16 half-century in ODI cricket, to complement his four hundreds in the format.
AFG Team Form

Romario Shepherd and former USA international Hayden Walsh Jr made their West Indies ODI debuts last time out. Walsh’s inclusion as an extra spinner meant no space for Keemo Paul, but the balance seemed to work well in their seven-wicket win. Brandon King’s wait for his ODI debut goes on, and he may have to stay patient beyond this second match too.
WI Key Players
Shai Hope: An unbeaten 77 last time out mirrored the score he hit when these teams met at the World Cup too. He has now reached 50 on 20 occasions in ODI cricket, in just 62 innings, and has converted six of those into centuries.
Roston Chase: Star man in the opening game of this series as he claimed 2-31 with the ball and then blasted 94 from 115 balls – including 11 fours – to lead West Indies to victory.
Jason Holder: The former captain bowled a phenomenal 47 dot balls in the first game of this series and conceded just one boundary. He finished with figures of 2-21 from his ten overs.

Afghanistan vs West Indies Head to Head
Victories in their last two matches in this fixture – once at the World Cup and once in the opening game of this series – have helped West Indies level the head-to-head record. Both teams have now won three of their seven previous ODIs. In each of the last two games, Shai Hope, Rahmat Shah and Ikram Alikhil have all hit half-centuries. Only Hope has finished up on the winning side on both occasions, however, though he was overshadowed by Roston Chase’s excellent all-round performance last time out.
