Adelaide Strikers Team News & Playing 11

ADS Team News

Peter Siddle, Alex Carey and Billy Stanlake have all been called up to the Australian ODI squad but remain available for the Adelaide Strikers for the time being. Siddle is set to return after missing the win against Melbourne Renegades - the only change from the win against Sydney Thunder in the previous match. Liam O'Connor's form in his place means it could be Ben Laughlin who misses out.

Travis Head is currently with the test squad and will miss this match, but he will return afterwards having been overlooked for Australia's ODI selection.

ADS Key Players

Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald have led the way with the bat for the Adelaide Strikers, opening the batting with aplomb. Carey has struck two half-centuries so far, most recently his 59 from 40 balls against Sydney Thunder, and has 161 from five matches in total. That puts him eight ahead of Weatherald, who struck 71 from 44 balls in the win against Melbourne Renegades last time out.

Captain Colin Ingram top-scored in the win against Sydney Thunder, meanwhile, with 75 from 43 balls - including six sixes.

Rashid Khan has starred with the ball again, meanwhile. The Afghanistan leg-spinner has taken eight wickets in five games so far and kept things tight too. The pace attack is led by Peter Siddle, who earned an Australian ODI recall after claiming 3-20 - including the key wicket of Jos Buttler - in the win against Sydney Thunder.

ADS Team Form

Defending champions Adelaide Strikers started the new Big Bash season with a win, led by two of the stars of the last campaign. Rashid Khan claimed 3-19 to bowl Brisbane Heat out for 146 and Alex Carey led the reply with 70, as the Strikers won by five wickets.

Two defeats followed, however, as they failed to defend 174/5 in a five-wicket defeat to Melbourne Renegades, despite Rashid Khan's 2-13 from four overs, and were then bowled out for 88 in a seven-wicket loss to Perth Scorchers.

Adelaide Strikers needed a response, therefore, but they got it as Colin Ingram (75) and Alex Carey (59) hit half-centuries in a total of 175/4 against Sydney Thunder and Peter Siddle's 3-20 helped restrict the Thunder to 155/6 in reply. And the Strikers made it two wins in a row last time out, after Jake Weatherald set the tone with 71 in a total of 158/6. Two wickets apiece for Liam O'Connor, Michael Neser and Billy Stanlake restricted the Melbourne Renegades to 126/9 in reply.

Sydney Sixers Team News & Playing 11

SYS Team News

After Justin Avendano replaced Jake Edwards at the top of the order to make his T20 debut in the win against Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers were unchanged against Hobart Hurricanes last time out. Whether they stick with the same line-up again after a defeat remains to be seen.

SYS Key Players

A rare low score for Jordan Silk in the defeat to Hobart Hurricanes cost him the chance to become the third player of this year's Big Bash League to reach 200 runs. He top-scored three of the opening four games and also hit 46 in the win against Brisbane Heat. Silk also scored a half-century in the defeat to Adelaide Strikers last season.

Daniel Hughes is 29 runs behind him in the batting charts, meanwhile, after hitting his second half-century of this year's tournament in the defeat to Hobart. Hughes hit 61 from 40 balls to follow up his 62 from their opening game.

Joe Denly is yet to hit top form, despite earning an England recall in October, but captain Moises Henriques' last three innings have brought scores of 20, 57 and 31.

With the ball, Tom Curran took his tenth wicket of this year's tournament in the game against Hobart Hurricanes. As well as claiming three three-wicket hauls, the England all-rounder has also been economical and showed good touch with the bat when he hit 62 in the Sydney derby too.

Steve O'Keefe was expensive last time out but the slow left-armer has 11 wickets from six games so far, while paceman Sean Abbott has claimed nine after his 2-29 against Hobart.

SYS Team Form

Jordan Silk (67*) and Daniel Hughes (62) shared a 124-run fourth-wicket partnership as Sydney Sixers beat Perth Scorchers by 17 runs to kick off this season's Big Bash League with a win. Two defeats followed, however, including a 21-run loss to Sydney Thunder despite Tom Curran's all-round heroics (3-24 and 62 from 40 balls).

The second defeat was a crushing loss to Melbourne Stars, after posting just 130/9, but the Sixers bounced back against Melbourne Renegades - Tom Curran claiming 3-18 and debutant Ben Manenti 2-13 as they restricted the ‘Gades to 99/9 in reply to 132/7.

The next match featured plenty more runs, despite Tom Curran's 3-25, as Brisbane Heat posted 164/7, but Moises Henriques led the reply with 57 from 37 balls and the Sixers got home with three balls to spare to win by five wickets. Defeat to Hobart Hurricanes meant they could not back it up, however, despite Daniel Hughes' 61 in a total of 161/8 - the Hurricanes winning in the final over.

Sydney Sixers Predicted Playing 11

Joe Denly, Moises Henriques, Dan Hughes, Jordan Silk, Josh Philippe, Tom Curran, Sean Abbott, Steve O'Keefe, Ben Dwarshuis, Ben Manenti
