Who will win Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars, BBL 2020?
Table-topping Melbourne Stars will look to bounce back from just their second defeat of the season when they take on Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval. The match takes place on January 22 and is scheduled to start at 19:10 local time.
The Stars had won eight in a row before defeat to Sydney Sixers in a rain-affected match last time out, and they have ten wins from 12 in total this season. Marcus Stoinis’ outstanding batting form has been central to that.
Their only other defeat prior to the Sydney match, however, was against Adelaide Strikers before Christmas. Jonathan Wells starred in the Strikers’ win on that occasion, and they have since returned to form to move to six victories in ten completed games to move third in the table.

ADS vs MLS Toss Prediction
Melbourne Stars’ decision to field first after winning the bat flip against Sydney Sixers did not pay off last time out, but the Adelaide wicket does not tend to lean strongly to the team batting or fielding first.
ADS vs MLS Weather Report
Though the evening is set to be cloudy in Adelaide there is very little chance of rain. There will be a bit of wind to contend with, however.
ADS vs MLS Pitch Condition
Adelaide has favoured bowling so far, with plenty of wickets having fallen at the Adelaide Oval – to both spinners and seamers – so far this season.

Adelaide Strikers Team News & Playing 11
ADS Team News
Alex Carey is set to return to the Strikers’ team after having been in India with the Australian ODI squad. He will replace Harry Nielsen in the team and his return is also likely to mean a shake-up of the batting order too. The Strikers, otherwise, could be unchanged.
ADS Key Players
Jonathan Wells: Hit an unbeaten 68* in Adelaide’s win when these teams last met and hit 45* last time out as the Strikers beat Hobart.
Rashid Khan: The Afghan ace has 16 wickets so far this season, including a tidy 1-23 last time these two teams met.
Travis Head: Had not showed his best form after his arrival from Australia’s test squad, but he hammered 79 from 40 balls to mark a return to his best form. He also has three wickets.
ADS Team Form
Adelaide Strikers recorded a much-needed win last time out – their second in three matches to end their bad run of form. Those two wins have been built around excellent bowling performances – dismissing Melbourne Renegades for 110 and, most recently, ripping Brisbane Heat out for just 100. In between, however, the Strikers suffered their own batting collapse and folded for 110 against the Heat.
Adelaide Strikers Predicted Playing 11
Jake Weatherald, Phil Salt, Alex Carey (c, wk), Travis Head, Jonathan Wells, Matthew Short, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Liam O’Connor, Wes Agar, Peter Siddle
Melbourne Stars Team News & Playing 11
MLS Team News
Peter Handscomb and Adam Zampa will return for Melbourne Stars, while Nathan Coulter-Nile – rested last time out – should also return. Jonathan Merlo and Lance Morris were expensive with the ball last time out and those two, alongside Seb Gotch, are likely to be the three to make way.
MLS Key Players
Marcus Stoinis: Defeat last time out did not prevent his stunning season with the bat continuing, as he smashed another 62 runs. He now has 585 runs, including five half-centuries and his record-breaking 147* in his other appearance against the Sixers.
Glenn Maxwell: Lacked his usual fluency last time out, but he still moved to 353 runs in 11 innings having bowled two tidy overs too.
Hilton Cartwright: Set the tone with 21 from ten balls at the top of the order last time out, and has enjoyed some good form alongside Stoinis in recent matches.
MLS Team Form
A run of eight consecutive wins finally came to an end last time out as Melbourne Stars were unable to add another big win against the Sixers. They posted 219/1 when they last met Sydney Sixers, before back-to-back wins against Perth Scorchers, but they were set 147 to win a rain-reduced 14-over game last time out and – despite Marcus Stoinis’ 62 – could only reach 125/5.
Melbourne Stars Predicted Playing 11
Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Glenn Maxwell (c), Nic Maddinson, Peter Handscomb (wk), Nick Larkin, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clinton Hinchcliffe, Sandeep Lamichhane, Adam Zampa, Daniel Worrall
Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars Head to Head
