In another injury blow to the Australian team, the middle-order batsman Travis Head has been ruled out of the 5th and final ODI against Sri Lanka. Head picked hamstring injury during the 4th ODI. He will be doubtful for the 1st Test as well.

Australia white-ball skipper Aaron Finch said, “It’s a bit more of a precaution, especially with where he fields. He fields in the outfield and the ground is quite heavy and he does a lot of Ks. I’m not sure what he’ll be like for the Tests but he’s definitely not available for tomorrow.”

The final ODI is scheduled to take place on 24th June at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka has clinched the series by winning the 4th ODI by 4 runs and gaining 3-1 lead. Sri Lanka has won an ODI series against Australia at home after 30 years.

Travis Head is a crucial middle-order batter for the Aussies and he has scored 120 runs in 3 matches at an average of 60.00.

Head is now added to the injuries list of the Aussies along with Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc. Smith has a strain in quadricep while Starc injured his finger from the shoe spike.

After the conclusion of the 5th ODI, both the teams will move to the last leg of the tour with 2 Tests to take place at Galle International Stadium.

The injury-ridden Aussie side might have to look towards Australia A squad for someone to replace Travis Head.
