Sunrisers Hyderabad assistant coach, Simon Katich has resigned from his duties after being recruited recently. Although no official statement from Katich or the team has been released, it has been confirmed that he has left the SRH staff.

Explaining his reasons to the team, Simon Katich has stated that he has some family issues and he cannot stay away from the family for such a long time. On the other hand, according to some sources in Australia, it has been reported that Katich was unhappy with the management as he felt that the things didn’t go as planned, in the IPL mega auction which was held last week in Bengaluru.

Simon Helmot has been roped in by the SRH team to replace Katich as assistant coach. Helmot has already worked with the SRH camp before, as an assistant coach. He has led the Melbourne Renegades Women team in the WBBL 2021 and took the team to the 2nd spot on the table. Among his coaching titles, he also won the CPL 2021 trophy as the head coach of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Simon Katich was among the coach staff in Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 and he left the team in the middle of the season. He was also the assistant coach in the Kolkata Knight Riders team.

Simon Katich was seen sitting among the team management in the IPL mega auctions on February 12-13.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has been doing a lot of rejigs among the staff. The head coach Trevor Bayliss and assistant coach Brad Haddin left in 2021 after the end of IPL 2021. The team also had some tussle with the former SRH skipper David Warner, who was sacked from captaincy and further dropped from the team in the middle of the season.

SRH retained Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik before the mega auctions took place. Williamson is speculated to lead the side from the IPL 2022.

Among their new signings in the IPL mega auction, SRH has bought Nicholas Pooran, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tripathi, Romario Shepherd and Abhishek Sharma.
