In a major blow to the Rajasthan Royals, bowling all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2022 season due to a side strain which he picked up in the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In a video posted by the team on Twitter, RR’s head Physio John Gloster said, “Unfortunately, I have the hard task of wishing him farewell. It's always hard to lose someone, particularly when it's through injury. And you know we were really looking forward to spending a lot of time with you throughout this tournament.”

The 34-year-old Aussie all-rounder has been part of the league since 2013. He has played for Delhi Capitals (Delhi Daredevils then), Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore before getting inducted into the Rajasthan Royals, who picked him for INR 2 crore in mega auction in February this year.

In 39 IPL matches, Coulter-Nile has scored 82 runs and picked 48 wickets with an economy of 7.70.

Royals are yet to announce a replacement for Coulter-Nile.
