In the latest turn of events from IPL 2022, MS Dhoni has handed over the CSK captaincy to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja just 2 days before the inaugural match is scheduled to take place. Chennai Super Kings will face Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders in the 1st match this season.

The update has been announced by the franchise on their official website which stated, “Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”

Ravindra Jadeja has been part of the CSK clan since 2012. He will be the 2nd full-time skipper of the team as MS Dhoni has been the captain of CSK since the start of IPL in 2008.

Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK has flourished as one of the top IPL teams, winning their 4th title in the last season after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, “MS Dhoni was thinking about it. He felt it is the right time to hand over captaincy to Jaddu. He feels Jaddu is also in prime form of his career and it is the ideal time for him lead CSK. What will be good for the franchise must be back of his mind.”

It won’t be wrong to say that Ravindra Jadeja is at the prime of his career currently. Jadeja displayed a match winning performance recently in the Mohali Test against Sri Lanka where he scored 175 runs and picked 9 wickets. He jumped to the No.1 spot in the ICC rankings for Test all-rounders.
