In yet another major blow to the Chennai Super Kings, all-rounder Moeen Ali has injured his ankle during a training session. The team management is waiting for the scan results but it is certain that Ali will be out of IPL 2022 for a while.

After winning the IPL trophy last year with CSK, he was still part of the franchise this year. He missed the initial matches due to delay in his visa for travelling from the UK to India.

Moeen Ali wasn’t in his top form this season. He has scored 87 runs so far at an average of 17.40 and with the ball, he has bowled 8 overs so far in which he gave off 68 runs and went wicketless. In the 2021 season, he was in good touch, scoring 357 runs and picked 6 wickets in 15 matches.

Seeing his average form, he was dropped from the playing 11 just two days before his injury. In the match against Mumbai Indians, CSK roped in New Zealand spinner all-rounder Mitchell Santner to replace Moeen Ali and CSK won the match, which was only their 2nd win of the season.

CSK has been getting big blows this season starting from Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne’s injuries and now with Moeen Ali. The newly appointed captain Ravindra Jadeja is leading the CSK side after MS Dhoni stepped down from his leadership duties. The team is struggling this season with only 2 wins so far, the reigning champions are at the 9th position on the points table.
