In a blow to the Australian side, pacer Mitchell Starc has accidentally injured his index finger of the bowling-arm. Starc has slit his finger with his shoe’s spike in the first over of the match. As a result, Starc will have to miss the 2nd T20I which is scheduled for 8th June.

Pacer Jhye Richardson or spinner Mitchell Swepson are the 2 worthy contenders to replace Starc in the 2nd match.

Australia has dominated the 1st T20I with a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka. Aussies have gained 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series.

While batting first Sri Lanka started pretty well and scored 100 runs in 12 overs but the Aussie bowling unit shifted gears and restricted Sri Lanka to a mere 128 runs. Aussie skipper and opener Aaron Finch alongside David Warner scored a partnership of 134 runs. Finch scored 61 runs off 40 deliveries and Warner smashed 71 runs off 44 deliveries.

The bowling duo of Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc deserves a lot of credit for this win. Hazlewood emerged as the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling figures of 4/16 in 4 overs while Starc picked 3 for 26 runs.

The 2nd T20I will take place on 8th June at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and Sri Lanka will look forward to level the series in this home series.
