In latest developments, former Australian batter Matthew Hayden has been appointed as the Team Mentor for Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. He has served as the Batting Consultant for Pakistan in the last year’s T20 World Cup when Pakistan looked in great form and reached the semi-finals.

Hayden will join the Pakistan camp when they arrive in Brisbane on October 15th after completing the series against Bangladesh and New Zealand in the latter's home.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s CEO, Ramiz Raja said, “I welcome Matthew Hayden back in Pakistan colours. He is a proven performer with his credentials acknowledged and recognised world-over. He brings with him wealth of knowledge about Australia conditions and I am confident his involvement will significantly benefit our extremely talented cricketers for the World Cup and future tours Down Under.”

On his appointment as the team’s mentor, Hayden said, “I am extremely excited to be reuniting with the Pakistan team as their mentor for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia and can't wait to join the culture again and feel the spirit of One Nation One Passion.”

Pakistan is currently playing Asia Cup 2022 where they have reached the final after beating India and Afghanistan in Super Four round. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2022.

Among Pakistan’s coaching staff, there is another former Aussie player Shaun Tait who is currently the bowling coach of Pakistan. 

The T20 World Cup 2022 will take place in Australia and the tournament is set to kick-off on 16th October and Pakistan will open their campaign against arch-rivals India on 23rd October at Melbourne.
