Indian wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul has got the green signal from the BCCI medical team to join the Indian team for the Zimbabwe tour. The 30-year-old opening batter was out of action for sometime due to sports hernia. He was treated in Germany after which he took time to recover.
Earlier, Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan was appointed as the captain of the side visiting Zimbabwe for 3-match ODI series but after KL Rahul’s inclusion, he has been demoted to the vice-captaincy position and Rahul has been appointed as captain of the side.
Senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant have been rested for the tour.
Rahul Tripathi has earned his maiden call for the ODI squad while Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Chahar are returning to the squad.
The three ODIs will start with the 1st one taking place on 18th August and the next 2 ODIs on 20th and 22nd August, respectively. All the matches will be held at the Harare Sports Club at Harare.
