After witnessing a match winning performance by the Aussie bowling squad in the 1st Test match, Australia will go into the 2nd Ashes Test without the services of pacer Josh Hazlewood due to side strain. The 2nd Test is set to commence on 16th December, 2021.

Australia started off Ashes 2021 on a positive note by winning the 1st Test match by 9 wickets as they required only 20 runs to win in the 2nd innings. Hazlewood is a quality Test bowler and his height adds to his perfect line and length. He grabbed 3 wickets in the first match.

Jhye Richardson is currently the favourite to replace Hazlewood in the upcoming Test match. Though the strain is very minor, the management doesn’t want to risk losing Hazlewood for the rest of the series therefore, he is taken to Sydney for the treatment and might be ready for the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne.

Richardson last played a day-night Test match against Sri Lanka in 2019 where he took 5 wickets.
