Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli & KL Rahul are back to the T20I squad

In a major blow to the Indian team, the leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury. Bumrah was supposed to be back to the Indian T20I squad after missing out on the West Indies tour.

His exclusion will be a big blow to the Indian pace attack as they are now left with only one experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan will join Bhuvneshwar in the pacers line-up and all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be the fourth seamer.

The selectors do not want to hamper his health conditions further as the bigger ICC event, the T20 World Cup 2022 is also scheduled to take place in October-November this year.

Jasprit Bumrah is now the 2nd pacer to be ruled out after Harshal Patel is also suffering from a side strain and out of the upcoming continental tournament. Both the players will go to rehab at the National Cricket Academy at Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli & KL Rahul Back To The Squad

Indian top-order batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are making a return to the team after a break. KL Rahul was getting treatment for his injury in Germany and Virat Kohli was rested for the West Indies tour and then he made himself available for the Asia Cup 2022 selection.

KL Rahul is also appointed as the Vice-Captain of the side under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

The return of the top-order batters will confuse the selectors after their trials with other young players went successful. Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson are some of the names which have proved their mettle recently. Suryakumar Yadav is currently at the 2nd spot on the ICC T20I batsman rankings.

Virat Kohli is still looking to find his lost form and all eyes will be on him to perform well and get back to his devastative form before the T20 World Cup later this year.
