On day three of the second Test at Trent Bridge, 27 year old fast bowler, Kyle Jamieson was bowling against England when he experienced a "stress response" in his lower back which kept him off the front for the remainder of the game, apart from a small appearance in the second innings. Now, Jamieson is ruled out from the third and the final Leeds match against England.

Coach Gary Stead expects four to six weeks of rest before he starts his rehabilitation program, which could lead to his probable return in September or October. Gary mentioned how disappointed Jamieson was to miss out on the second innings, he also describes that his absence was felt and the New Zealand team will wait for their fast bowler to return from his injury fully recovered.

“He’s obviously a huge asset for us and we’ll be making sure we are patient with his recovery to ensure he returns fully fit with plenty more important cricket still to come later this year,” the coach added.

Blair Tickner, who played in Tests for England during the early games of the trip, will take his spot and will arrive in the UK before the third test at Leeds.

Meanwhile, on the 4th day of the second Test, 29 year old wicket-keeper, Cam Fletcher has also been ruled out from the 3rd and final match against England due to a grade-two right-hamstring strain.

"It's always sad to see players forced to leave a tour early with an injury," Stead said. Dane Cleaver has been called up to the New Zealand Test squad to replace Cam Fletchers in the third and final Leeds match against England.

"Blair was with us for the first part of the tour and his skills will be a valuable asset to the squad. It will be Dane's first experience with the Test side and I know he can't wait to get here and soak it up."
