According to the latest updates, the final match of the IPL 2022 is scheduled to start at 8 PM IST, which is 30 mins behind the usual time for the IPL evening matches. The decision has been taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in order to have a cultural closing ceremony before the match.

The opening and closing ceremony used to be an annual ritual of the league earlier but was later stopped. This year also there was no opening ceremony on March 26 when the IPL was started but the BCCI has taken a decision in order to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Indian Premier League.

According to the sources, the closing ceremony is reported to feature famous bollywood personalities A.R.Rahman and Ranveer Singh. The ceremony will start at 6:30 PM IST and will continue to go on for around 50 minutes. The toss will take place at 7:30 PM and the finale will kick-off at 8 PM.

For the first 10 years, 8 PM was the usual time for the IPL evening matches but was pushed back by 30 minutes after the 2017 season.

According to reports, BCCI is keen to start the evening matches by 8 PM and afternoon matches by 4 PM from the 2023 season. They have provided the information to the interested broadcasters who want to bid for the telecast rights starting from next season.

The 1st qualifier and eliminator match are set to take place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata while Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is scheduled to host the 2nd qualifier and the Final match of the IPL 2022. The final is set to take place on 29th May.

The tournament is currently in its final leg of the league stage with just 3 matches to go and 2 teams qualified for the playoffs. The debutant teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have been pretty impressive throughout the season and they both are the first 2 teams to qualify for the playoffs.
