IPL 2022 will begin from March 26, Fixtures to be Announced Soon

After a long wait it has been announced that IPL 2022 will commence from 26th March. Earlier it was speculated that the starting date would be March 26 but the host broadcaster, Star requested for a 27th March start, which is Saturday.

The broadcaster wanted to start the tournament with 3 games on the first weekend which was not possible with a start on 27th March. The final match is speculated to take place on May 29th, but yet to be confirmed after the release of fixtures schedule.

IPL Governing Council took the decision on Thursday (24th February) and they will be announcing the fixtures soon.

As per a report by Cricbuzz, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel has confirmed the news regarding the starting date and has also said that this year IPL might not take place behind closed doors and the management will discuss with the state government regarding the number of spectators to be allowed.

IPL 2022 is scheduled to take place in Maharashtra with 70 matches to take place across 4 venues out of which 3 are in Mumbai and 1 is in Pune.

IPL 2022 fixtures are eagerly awaited by the fans since all the teams got a new look after the IPL mega auction which was held on February 12-13. The IPL 2022 will feature 10 teams and this is happening for the first time since 2011.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear earlier that they will give their best efforts to host IPL in India this year.
