India and Australia will play a 3-match T20I series before the T20 World Cup 2022 begins in October. The series is scheduled to start on 20th September with the 1st T20I to take place at PCA Stadium in Mohali. The next 2 matches will take place in Nagpur and Hyderabad.

Just before the start of the series, Australia announced that all-rounders Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis and pacer Mitchell Starc have been ruled out of the series due to minor injuries as they want to be fit for the T20 World Cup.
