India Predicted Playing 11 - Asia Cup 2022

One of the top cricket tournaments, Asia Cup 2022 is around the corner and is set to take place after 4 years. India are the current champions having won their 7th Asia Cup title in 2018 after beating Bangladesh in the final.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has recently confirmed that Asia Cup 2022 is set to take place in the UAE after the previous host nation Sri Lanka backed out due to political and economic unrest.

This year’s Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format. This will be the second time the T20 format will be followed in the tournament after the 2016 edition.

India’s last outing in a mega T20 tournament wasn’t the one which they would want to remember. India got kicked out in the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup. They also lost the World Cup winning streak against Pakistan, which won the match by 10 wickets.

India Full Squad For Asia Cup 2022

Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan

The Asia Cup 2022 will serve as the perfect warm-up before the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, which will take place in October-November. According to the reports, the Asia Cup is scheduled to start at the end of August and will end in September. The fans are waiting for the India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup before the teams will see each other again in the T20 World Cup.

After the fall of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup last year, there is much speculation about which players the selectors will take to the ICC mega event this year.

Team India Probable Playing 11 For Asia Cup 2022

1. Rohit Sharma

The Indian skipper will lead the squad and will continue with his role as the opener. Rohit Sharma has been one of the top white-ball batters in the international circuit for a long time. His 4 centuries in the T20Is is the highest ever by any Indian player. Rohit Sharma has a reputation of performing well in the big tournaments.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has been out of action for a while as he was undergoing treatment for groin injury. He last played in the IPL 2022 where he led the debuting franchise Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul scored 616 runs in this season and he has been scoring 600+ runs in the last 3 IPL seasons.

He is one of the top T20 batsmen for India and will be included in the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup squad.

3. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has played 99 T20Is so far in which he has smashed 3308 runs at an impressive average of 50.12. Although his current form is a matter of concern, everyone is aware of his capabilities. He has been rested from the West Indies tour but expected to be back in the Asia Cup 2022 squad. Once Kohli regains his form, he will be back to his ‘chase-master’ tag.

4. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is being hailed as India’s Mr. 360, a tag which was attached to former South African batter AB De Villiers for his ability to hit shots in all the directions of the ground. Suryakumar Yadav recently became the 5th Indian batter to smash a century in T20Is. He scored 117 runs at a strike rate of 212.73 in front of England’s quality bowling line-up.

5. Hardik Pandya

Just when his critics thought that things were over for Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder strikes back harder. After getting injured during the T20 World Cup 2021, Pandya took a while to recover. The team management started looking towards Venketesh Iyer to replace Pandya but he made his comeback with a bang.

He was appointed as the captain of the newly formed IPL team Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. He led the team to a title win in its debut season and then he impressed everyone with his international performances with both bat and ball.

After IPL 2022, Pandya has scored 215 runs in 9 innings and picked 6 wickets.

6. Rishabh Pant

Time and again Rishabh Pant has proved his prominence in both red-ball and white-ball cricket. Recently, Pant smashed his first ODI century in the decider final match of the series against England. He is also known for his innovative shots. Rishabh Pant is not a versatile batsman but he is a batsman who executes his do or die style of batting in all formats.

7. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is a quality all-rounder who can score crucial runs for the team and pick important wickets with his wrist spin bowling. In the 2nd T20I against England recently, Jadeja smashed 46 runs off just 29 deliveries to help India put up a score of 170. India won the match and took 2-0 lead in the 3 match T20I series in England.

8. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan has been terrific in the last 2 IPL seasons. In the 2021 edition he picked 24 wickets and this year he took 18 wickets in 13 matches. His IPL performance opened doors for him to get a chance in the Indian team. In the 13 T20Is so far, Avesh Khan has picked 11 wickets with the best bowling figures of 4/18.

9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

It will be odd to see Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of the playing 11 seeing his recent form in the T20s. Kumar was very impressive in both the South Africa and England series. In the T20I series against England, Bhuvneshwar Kumar emerged as the Player of the Series, picking 4 wickets in 2 matches at an average of 6.25.

He is working hard to cement his place back in the T20I squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. For all we know, he is one of the top power-play pacers and with his ability to swing the ball in any pitch condition, he is surely a must-have player for the playing XI.

10. Yuzvendra Chahal

With his back-to-back stellar performances since the IPL 2022, Yuzvendra Chahal is trying his best to cement his place in the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup squads this year. Chahal couldn’t make it to the T20 World Cup squad last year but then he levelled up his game. He won the purple cap in the IPL 2022 taking 27 wickets in 17 matches.

On the England tour, Chahal picked 4 wickets in 2 T20Is and 7 wickets in 3 ODIs. His spinning abilities will be helpful on the UAE pitches.

11. Arshdeep Singh

India has found a much-needed left arm pacer in Arshdeep Singh who rose to fame with his death-over bowling skills in IPL, playing for Punjab Kings. In his debut T20I against England, Arshdeep finished with the figures of 2/18. If he performs well in the Asia Cup 2022, he will be definitely on the plane to Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022.
