Moments after Mithali Raj announced retirement from international Cricket, all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur is appointed as the skipper for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour which consists of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs.

Harmanpreet will now lead the Indian team in both the white-ball formats. She has an experience of more than 100 matches in both ODIs and T20Is.

In 118 ODIs, Harmanpreet has smashed 2982 runs and picked 29 wickets while in 121 T20Is, she scored 2319 runs and picked 30 wickets.

The former skipper Mithali Raj has called time on her long cricket career of 23 years. Raj ended her career being the highest run scorer, scoring more than 10,000 runs in total. In 232 ODIs, Mithali Raj smashed 7805 runs at an average of 50.68. She is the highest scorer in Women’s ODIs.

New batter, Harleen Deol has found herself a place in the ODI squad and she has replaced the 39-year-old experienced batter Jhulan Goswami.

Smriti Mandhana will be the deputy for Harmanpreet Kaur in the ODIs and T20Is.

Harmanpreet has been in terrific form currently. She was the leading run scorer in the Women’s T20 Challenge, scoring 151 runs in 3 matches at an average of 50.33.
