Just a day after Australia T20 World Cup squad reveal, England has also announced the 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup which is set to take place in Australia in October-November.
England all-rounder and Test captain, Ben Stokes has earned a call for the T20I squad after being out of the format for a long time. He last played a T20I match in March 2021.
Stokes has retired from the ODI format lately and has been out of the T20I action but the management has faith in their star player who helped England to lift their first ever ICC World Cup trophy in 2019.
Among the other big changes, the opening batter Jason Roy has been left out while some new names like Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Phil Salt, Reece Topley have found a place in the team.
England’s new white-ball captain Jos Buttler is currently undergoing treatment for a calf injury which he sustained during a game in The Hundred. All-rounders Chris Jordan and Liam Livingstone are also dealing with their injuries and will not be able to join the squad for the Pakistan tour which consists of 7 T20Is starting from 20th September.
Moeen Ali is the first contender to lead the England T20I side in the absence of Jos Buttler.
