In the latest developments in Big Bash League, the Decision Review System (DRS) has received a green signal and will be implemented from the upcoming 2022-23 season of BBL and WBBL.

Big Bash League’s boss Alistair Dobson said, “The league is delighted to introduce DRS … in line with the very best cricket competitions in the world. Implementing DRS has been a challenging task for the BBL, which is the most logistically complex T20 league in the world.”

Along with the introduction of DRS, the league has also scrapped the X-Factor and Bash Boost rules. In the X-factor, the captain has to name 2 players other than the playing 11 and after the 10th over, each team can swap one player from the 2 X-factor players.

Another big rule to be implemented in the upcoming BBL season is that each team will get 79 minutes to complete 20 overs. In case any team fails to reach the time limit, only 4 players will be allowed to be placed outside the 30-yard circle, instead of 5, for the remainder of the innings.
