Chennai Super Kings will take on Delhi Capitals in match 55 of the Indian Premier League 2022. As we move to the business end of the tournament, every game becomes of utmost importance. CSK are out of the playoff race but they can spoil the party for the Delhi Capitals, who have five wins in 10 games. CSK have been very ordinary this season, winning just three games in 10 outings. Meanwhile, DC will be high on confidence after an emphatic win over Hyderabad in their last game.
In terms of team combination, CSK does not have much to choose from. However, with playoff chances gone, they may give chances to some of the fringe players like N Jagadeesan, and Hari Nishant.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway will open the innings, followed by Robin Uthappa. Gaikwad has picked up some form in the last two games. He scored 99 against SRH and looked good against RCB as well. Conway is also in prime form after two back to back half-centuries in the last two games. Uthappa has also had a decent tournament. However, consistency is something he would like to work on.
Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni will be the middle order batters. Rayudu has been the most consistent batter for CSK so far in the tournament, while Moeen Ali also adds great value to the team. MS Dhoni can be dangerous in final overs.
Along with Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Pretorious will be the all-rounders. Unfortunately for CSK, both of them have been a big letdown. But CSK don't have apt replacements available this will have to stick with them.
CSK bowling also looks bleak with Maheesh Theekshana and Mukesh Chaudhary as their only two genuine wicket-takers. Simranjeet Singh is there but he has been ordinary so far.

Delhi decimated Hyderabad in the last game. However, Khaleel Ahmed picked a slight injury in the collarbone. It's not clear if he will play the next game or not. Prithvi Shaw is also likely to return along with Axar Patel and Mustafizur Rahman.
Prithvi Shaw and David Warner will open the innings. Warner is in red hot form in the tournament, with 4 half-centuries in 10 games. He scored 92 off 58 against Hyderabad. Shaw has given some flying starts to Delhi but he hasn't played a match-winning knock yet. The openers will be followed by Mitchell Marsh, who has come in and played some short yet crisp knocks.
Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell and Lalit Yadav will be the middle order batters. Delhi will be happy to see Rovman Powell get runs. He scored 35 ball 67 in the last game. Lalit has also done well for the team coming down the order. The form of Rishabh Pant will be a slight concern though.
Axar Patel should be back in the team and bowl his economical overs, while Shardul Thakur will also look to improve his performance in the next game.
Mustafizur Rahman should be back if fit. He along will Kuldeep Yadav and Anrich Nortje will form a lethal bowling attack.
