Australian wicketkeeper batsman, Alex Carey will make his Test debut in the upcoming Ashes series which is scheduled to start from 8th December, 2021.

Alex Carey Stats

Alex Carey is a talented white-ball batsman. He has played 38 T20Is and 45 One-Day Internationals for the Australian side. He has been a consistent pick for the ODI format. Now, he will be included in the 1st Ashes Test as a wicket keeper and he can give his best to become a permanent for the team. Carey was preferred over Josh Inglis for his ODI consistency and performance. He has scored 1203 runs in 45 ODIs that he has played.

On making his Test debut, Carey said, “I am incredibly humbled by this opportunity. It's an exciting build-up for what is a huge series ahead. My focus is on preparing and playing my part in helping Australia secure the Ashes.”

After Paine’s decision to step down from captaincy, Aussie pacer Pat Cummins was appointed as the Test captain to lead the squad in the important Ashes series, which is a 5-match Test series against England every year. Both these sides fight at their level best every year to grab that Ashes trophy, famously known as ‘The Ashes Urn’. Currently, Australia is the reigning champions of the Ashes.
