Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will face each other in the first match of the Super 4 in Asia Cup 2022. Afghanistan qualified for the Super 4 after defeating Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the group stage. Their bowling has been sensational as the likes of Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have done exceedingly well. Afghanistan is a dangerous team and are very capable to beat any team in the tournament, including India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka qualified for the Super 4s after beating Bangladesh in a cliffhanger. Chasing a big target of 184, Sri Lanka won the match by two wickets, courtesy of good knocks by Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lanka need to be at the top of their game to beat Afghanistan.

Kusal Mendis will be one of the key players for Sri Lanka. He played a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s win over Bangladesh and scored a solid half-century. Sri Lanka will need him to fire again against Afghanistan.
Shanaka has emerged as a very good all-rounder for Sri Lanka. While he doesn’t bowl much, he is a very handy batter down the order for Sri Lanka. Against Bangladesh, he played a match winning inning of 45 and bailed Sri Lanka out of trouble.
Hasaranga had a bad game against Bangladesh but he is still a trump card for Sri Lanka. He is a wonderful bowler and given the conditions, Sri Lanka will rely a lot on him against Afghanistan.
Rashid Khan had a brilliant game against Bangladesh and picked up three wickets to help Afghanistan march into the Super 4. Rashid is one of the best bowlers in this format of the game and it won’t be easy for Sri Lanka to score against him.
Mujeeb ur Rahman also had a terrific outing against Bangladesh and ran through their top order to finish with figures of 3/16. The Rashid – Mujeeb combo will be a hard pill to swallow for Sri Lanka.
