Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will kick start their 50 Over World Cup preparations with a three-match ODI series. Both teams last featured in the T20 World Cup but failed to make it to the semis. In terms of ODIs, Sri Lanka last played against Australia a few months back and won the series 3-2.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan last played against Zimbabwe and won the series 3-0. Afghanistan is a good team and Sri Lanka won’t find it easy against them, even in their home conditions.
The wicket in Pallekele assists the spinners. Given that both teams boast of some quality spinners, it is not going to be easy for the batters out there.
There is 50 per cent chance of rain in Pallekele on the match day. The temperature will be around 30 degrees while the humidity will be 72 per cent.

Kusal Mendis has been in good form for Sri Lanka. He scored over 300 runs in the T20 World Cup and will be keen to take that form into the ODIs as well. He is an aggressive batter thus if he gets on song, Sri Lanka will be in a great position.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is another good talent to keep an eye on. While he can be inconsistent at times, there is no denying the fact that he is one of the best Afghan batters and can demolish any bowling attack.
On helpful Lanka conditions, Rashid Khan can be very dangerous for Sri Lanka. The world is aware of the match-winning abilities of the master spinner.
Wanindu Hasaranga adds a lot of value to the Sri Lanka team. He is one of the best spinners going around and adds a lot of depth to the team with his batting lower down the order.
Since the surface will be helpful for the spinners, Mujeeb is also a handy player to have. His accuracy and variations make him a dangerous bowler to face.
