New Zealand vs Pakistan, 2nd ODI – New Zealand Tri-Series | |

Date | 8th October 2022 |
Time | 11:30 AM IST, 6:00 AM GMT, 7:00 PM LOCAL |
Venue | Hagley Oval, Christchurch |
New Zealand will take on Pakistan in the second game of the tri-series. New Zealand are a formidable team at home and it won’t be easy for Pakistan to get over them. Also, New Zealand are playing a full-strength unit so the challenge will be stiffer for Pakistan.
The Men in Green though started the series with a 21-run win over Bangladesh. Having posted 167/5 in 20 overs, they restricted Bangladesh to 146-8. However, the team should be concerned as once again it was Mohammad Rizwan who bailed them out of trouble and there was no contribution from the other batters.
The surface at the Oval in the first game was a good wicket to play cricket as it assisted the pacers as well as the slower bowlers in the second half of the inning. An even contest between bat and ball is expected in the second T20I.
It will be a clear day but the weather will be very chilly with temperatures coming down to as low as 5-7 degrees.
Martin Guptill, Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson (C), Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips (wk) James Neesham, Ish Sodhi, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee
Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Shan Masood, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf/Mohammad Hasnain, Shahnawaz Dahani
Daryl Mitchell has been ruled out of the series due to a fracture so he won’t be available. Mitchell Santner will also join the squad late so he too won’t play. Pakistan can also make a few changes as they will be playing back-to-back games.
Pakistan have a good record against New Zealand in T20Is.

Batters | Kane Williamson, Babar Azam, Glenn Phillips |
All-rounders | Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz |

Babar has been very inconsistent of late but we cannot leave him out of the team as he is one of the best batters going around despite the dip in form. As he showed in the England series, he can play a magical inning every now and then.
Continuing his stellar run, Mohammad Rizwan once again top-scored for Pakistan and played a wonderful inning of 78 against Bangladesh. He has been remarkable in recent times and will be Pakistan’s biggest hope in the coming game.
Devon Conway is arguably the most consistent New Zealand batter and the hosts will rest their hopes on him to set up a good platform for the middle-order batters.
Trent Boult will be a threat to Pakistan batters who have had issues against the left-arm seamers. If the ball swings, Boult can be deadly with the new ball so he is a good player to back as well.
Nawaz had a good game against Bangladesh and picked two wickets for 25 runs. He is also a very handy batter and has done well for Pakistan of late so he is also a good player to have in the team.
