Date | 18th November 2022 |
Time | 12: 00 PM IST, 6:30 AM GMT 7:30 PM LOCAL |
Venue | Sky Stadium, Wellington |
India will tour New Zealand for a three-match ODI series and as many T20Is, with the focus on the 50-over World Cup in India next year. The series will start with the T20I leg, with the first T20I being played on 18th November. India had an average outing in the T20 World Cup as they reached the semis but were knocked out by England. Few big guns like Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli won't be part of the series so it will be a challenge for team India.
Meanwhile, New Zealand also reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup but lost to Pakistan. In their home conditions, they will fancy their chances against a young team India.
Small grounds make up for great venues for T20 cricket. The wicket in Wellington, however, will offer some help to the pacers which will make the contest even and enthralling.
There is a 90 per cent chance of rain on the match day. The temperature will be around 20 degrees which is very pleasant for cricket. However, rain is a big threat.

New Zealand have dropped Trent Boult and Martin Guptill from the series. Adam Milne has been brought in. India, as mentioned before, they have rested some big guns like Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma among others.
It has been a close contest between India and New Zealand in T20Is. While India have dominated NZ in bilateral series, NZ have troubled India in ICC events

Batters | Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Glenn Phillips, Kane Williamson |
All-rounders | Hardik Pandya (VC), Mitchell Santner |
Bowlers | Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee |
Suryakumar Yadav has been in staggering form in recent times. He was at his brutal best in the T20 World Cup and scored 239 runs in 6 matches at an average of 59. In the absence of Kohli, Rohit, Surya will be India's main man with the bat.
Devon Conway has been the Mr Consistent for New Zealand. Conway didn't have the best T20 World Cup and he will be keen to make up for that by leading New Zealand to a win against India.
Hardik Pandya had a decent outing with the bat in the T20 World Cup and played a couple of good hands, including a 33-ball 63 in the semi-final against England. However, he was still not at his best and didn't do much with the ball either. Hardik will be leading the team in the series and that might get the best out of him.
Umran Malik will get a chance to showcase his talent and on the helpful conditions of New Zealand. He can be a real weapon for India as he can run through the Kiwi line-up with his express pace.
Tim Southee has a great record in New Zealand as the ball tends to swing early on. Southee's 4 overs will be crucial for New Zealand in the T20I series.
