Venue | Old Trafford, Manchester |
Manchester Originals had a poor outing in the last season. They failed to reach the knockouts and finished sixth with just two wins in eight games. Manchester Originals have a good squad at disposal with players like Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Andre Russell, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Sean Abbott. Manchester Originals will be looking for better performance in the ongoing seasons.
Meanwhile, Northern Superchargers also had a disappointing season after winning just 3 of the eight games. They too have very good players in the team, including the likes of Faf du Plessis, David Willey, Dwayne Bravo and Wahab Riaz. Both teams will be looking to get off to a winning start in the tournament.
The surface at Old Trafford will be in favour of the batters. There will not be much help on offer for the bowlers and they will have to rely on good variations to trick the batters.
The weather will be quite chilly at 9 degrees. Also, there are 36 per cent chances of rain on the match day.

It's a first game for the teams thus both of them will be keen to play the best XI. However, we have no update if all the big players are available for selection from the first game or not. We will get to know about this when all teams have played at least one game.
Both teams met twice in the last season and Northern Superchargers won the match comprehensively.

All-rounders | Andre Russell (c) David Willey, Wanindu Hasaranga (vc) |
Wicketkeepers | Jos Buttler, Phil Salt |
Bowlers | Adil Rashid, Richard Gleeson, Matty Potts |
Not much needs to be said about Jos Buttler and the abilities he posses. Buttler is one of the best players going around in this format and is a must in any team.
Faf du Plessis doesn't play international cricket but he is an active players in T20 leagues around the globe. He last played in IPL 2022 and did reasonably well for RCB. He will be a key player for Superchargers
Bravo can be an asset to Superchargers in the tournament. He is very experienced and a specialist when it comes to shorter formats. He can tonk the ball big and is very hard to score off due to his variations.
Do we need to say anything apart from writing his name. When it comes to shorter formats, Andre Russell is an automatic selection in a fantastic team given what he offers to the team.
Wanindu Hasaranga is a bowler who seems to be at his prime. He had a terrific season of IPL and will be a key player for Manchester Originals.
