India face a must-win situation against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 of the Asia cup. The Men in Blue lost their last game to Pakistan by 5 wickets thus a win in the coming game is a must to keep the final hopes alive. The loss against Pakistan will be worrying the Men in Blue as the bowlers failed to defend 181.
The bowlers looked off-colour and were taken apart by the Pakistan batters. In the absence of Bumrah and Harshal, India’s bowling is on the weaker side. While Bhuvneshwar has done well, the spinners have been poor which will be concerning for Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan in their first Super 4 game and a win against India will almost seal their place in the final. Sri Lanka’s batting has done well with likes Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Mendis and Bhanuka Rajapaksa doing well. Their bowling, however, has been pretty ordinary. Sri Lanka need to be at the top of their game to beat India.
The surface in Dubai looks a belter now as we are seeing quite a few big scores being made and also being chased. The spinners are not getting enough help which has allowed the batters to make merry. If the pitch starts turning, then it will be a different story. However, it’s a short tournament and we don’t think that pitch will deteriorate so quickly.
The weather will be hot and humid, as we expect in Dubai with temperatures soaring to 41 degrees. Rain obviously is not a cause of concern.
Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal/Avesh Khan
Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Charith Asalanka, Danushka Gunathilaka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka
India will most probably bring back Avesh Khan in place of either Ravi Bishnoi or Yuzvendra Chahal. Sri Lanka are likely to play the same team that defeated Afghanistan.
India and Sri Lanka have played a lot of T20Is and India have dominated the neighbours hands down.

Virat Kohli has roared back to form in the Asia Cup with two back to back 50s. He is the highest run scorer of the tournament with 154 runs in 3 games. Kohli can be unstoppable when is full flow and we have seen glimpses of the vintage Kohli in Asia Cup 2022.
Rohit Sharma has looked a very dangerous player in T20Is of late. He has looked to play very attacking cricket and is not afraid to lose his wicket. This can be crucial because we know how destructive Rohit can be. If can stay at the wicket for say 10 overs, he will get India and himself to a very good score.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a 31-run knock of 10 balls against Afghanistan to help Sri Lanka win a crucial game. Rajapaksa is a very good batter who can also be used as a floater. He can play in the top order and can also play the role of a finisher. He is one of the cleanest strikers of a cricket ball.
Hasaranga is Sri Lanka’s biggest wicket-taker. If Sri Lanka has to beat India, Hasaranga will need to have a very good game. He is someone who is not easy to score off but Sri Lanka will need wickets from him, even if he goes for a few extra runs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be India’s main man with the ball. Kumar has been sensational ever since he returned to the Indian team. He has carried his form in the Asia Cup as well. So far he has taken six wickets in three games for India.
