South Africa defeated India by 9 runs to go 1-0 up in the series. It was a rain-curtailed game where South Africa scored 249 runs in their 40 overs before restricting India to 240-8. India had the game under control when they reduced South Africa to 110-4 but half-centuries by David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen helped South Africa post a good score.
India were never in the chase until Sanju Samson played a gem of an innings of 86 in 63 balls to take India close. However, he could not take India over the line as they fell agonizingly short of the target.
The surface will be good for batting and plenty of runs are expected to be scored. This has been a high-scoring limited-overs series and the second ODI should not be too different.
The weather will be cloudy and rain chances stand at 20 per cent. The humidity will be 80 percent while the temperature will range between 21 to 29 degrees.

Dhawan failed in the last game but he has done well for India in the limited games he has played of late. He is one of the most experienced players in the Indian team so we are going to stick with Dhawan in our fantasy team
Shreyas Iyer played a wonderful inning of 50 in 37 balls in the 1st ODI and kept India in the hunt for the chase. Iyer is a very talented batter and he would certainly love to play another good inning and boost his chances of becoming a regular in the Indian team.
Sanju Samson played a masterful inning of 86 off 63 balls and almost took India home. Samson is rated very highly in India and he showed that he truly deserves more chances in the Indian team. ODI is a format where Samson can take his time early on which will allow him to get set and play a long inning. Another good show is expected from him in Ranchi.
Miller has been in the staggering form of late. After scoring a century in the second T20I, he played a wonderful knock of 75 in the last game. Miller looks in peak form thus he is expected to have a good game in the 2nd ODI as well.
Rabada bowled a spell of 2-36 in 8 overs and choked India for runs at the death. Rabada is one of the best bowlers going around and he is not going to make life easy for the Indian batters.
