After an intriguing T20I series, India and South Africa will clash in the three-match ODI series. Players who are part of the T20 World Cup will not be part of the series for India. The team will be short on experience but not on quality. It is a great opportunity for India’s young players to make a statement.
South Africa is a tough team to beat and given how they fared in the T20I series, it seems that the challenge will be stiffer. South Africa did lose the T20I series 2-1, but they were fairly competitive. They almost chased 237 in the second T20Is and beat India by 46 runs in the third T20I.
The surface will be flat and good for batting. Not many international games have been played here but whatever games were played, they were mostly high-scoring ones.
The weather doesn’t look good as there is a 100 per cent chance of rain. The humidity is also 100 per cent which can take a toll on players, especially in the afternoon.
Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Rajat Patidar, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj
Janneman Malan, Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwayne Pretorius, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi
T20 World Cup bound players will not be part of this series for India. South Africa will welcome Jannemann Malan but they will retain most of the players who played in the T20Is.
The head to head records are in favour of South Africa

Dhawan will bring a lot of experience to the team. He is someone who has done well against the likes of Kagiso Rabada and co. India doesn’t have a lot of experience in the team thus Dhawan’s performance becomes very crucial for India.
There is no doubt about the quality of Shreyas Iyer but the batter has not been able to cement his place in the Indian team. The series is a great opportunity for him to catch the eyes of selectors and become a regular member of the Indian team.
David Miller had a wonderful series against India in T20Is. He scored a century in the second T20I and also batted well in the third game. Miller is one of the best white ball cricketers and a lot will be expected of him in the T20I series.
Kagiso Rabada is one of the best bowlers going around. He had a wonderful T20I series and bowled with great fire. A similar intensity is expected of him in the ODI series. Rabada’s 10 overs will be very crucial for South Africa.
Deepak Chahar bowled well in the T20I series, even though he leaked quite a few runs. But he swung the new ball and that is what team India will be expecting from him. If Chahar can knock out early South Afrian wickets, it will give a big advantage to the team. Also, Chahar is a handy batter down the order.
