Venue | Perth Stadium, Perth |
England will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Afghanistan. England are one of the best teams in this format of the game and are big favourites to win the title. They come into the tournament having defeated Australia in the T20I series. They have some of the best players in the world on their side so it won't be easy for any team to beat them.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan can be the dark horse in the tournament. They have a few good batters and match-winning spinners on the side. On their day, Afghanistan can topple the best teams so an upset cannot be counted out, but England will start as big favourites.
Perth is one of the fastest wickets in Australia and pace bowlers are going to enjoy the conditions. Also, overcast weather will make life tough for the batters.
The weather will be slightly cloudy but rain is not a massive concern given that the chances of precipitation are just 10 per cent. The temperature will range between 12 to 23 degrees

Jos Buttler is a monster player in T20Is. He missed the Pakistan series but played against Australia and immediately made an impact. Butter top scored for England in the series and notched up 150 runs in 3 games.
Mohammad Nabi is one of the most experienced batters in the Afghanistan team. Nabi scored 41 against Bangladesh and 51 against Pakistan in warm-up games so he is in good form. Add to that his four overs of spin, so a good game for Nabi can significantly improve the team's chances.
England are laced with match-winners in the team and Liam Livingstone is certainly a game-changer for England. Livingstone is known to play at a strike rate of 150+ which increases significantly when he is set at the wicket. Livingstone likes to play on the hard, bouncy surface and is good against the spinners so there is every chance of him doing well against Afghanistan.
Moeen Ali is also a key player in the England team. He is a top-quality batter and given the long boundaries, it won't be easy to hit him for sixes as he also bowls his full quota of overs. Batters take him for granted and try to attack him which gives him an opportunity to pick wickets.
Any game Afghanistan plays, Rashid is their biggest match-winner and the team will be expecting a good show from him. Rashid has plenty of experience playing in Australia, having played in BBL and he will be looking to use that to full advantage.
