Venue | Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, St. Lucia |
Barbados Royals have played two games and won on both occasions, while Trinbago Knight Riders have a win to show in the only game they have played. Their last game against St. Kitts and Nevis was abandoned due to rain.
Royals have looked very assured so far with convincing wins against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St. Lucia Kings. In both games, the team did well as a unit with batters scoring runs and bowlers not allowing the opposition to get on top.
In the first game against the Patriots, they chased 150 with seven wickets to spare while against Kings, the bowlers reduced Kings to 91-4 before the rain arrived and Barbados won the match by 11 runs.
Meanwhile, Knight Riders’ win came against St Lucia Kings but it was a hard-fought win where the team struggled in a chase of 144 and only managed a win by 3 wickets.
This will be the first game of CPL 2022 in St. Lucia. The wicket here is generally good for batting and batters should enjoy their time out here. The new ball might swing for the first couple of overs.
The weather is not very promising as there is an 80 per cent chance of rain. The temperature will range between 31 to 26 degrees but things look gloomy at the moment.

Quinton De Kock is back for Barbados Royals and so aisDavid Miller. The duo’s presence mmakesBR look a daunting team. Meanwhile, Knight Riders should play the same team that was selected to play against the Patriots.
Trinbago Knight Riders have a great record against Barbados Royals

All-rounders | Sunil Narine (VC), Andre Russell, Jason Holder |

Sunil Narine is opening the batting for TKR which is a great move. He is a good striker of a cricket ball and can score some quick runs in the powerplay. His bowling has always been very impressive so he is a very good player to have for us.
Andre Russell will be a player to watch out for from TKR. He may not be very consistent but when it is his day, he will single-handedly win the game for his team. Russell is a match-winner and he is one of our top picks from the match.
Kyle Myers has enjoyed a lot of success in recent times across formats and has carried his form in CPL as well. Myers delivered a sizzling performance for Barbados against St. Lucia Kings and picked 4 wickets for 4 runs in 2 overs while also scoring a brilliant 36 off 23 balls.
Miller had a poor run in the Hundred but T20 is a format he will feel very comfortable in. Miller is one of the best T20 batters and he showed some signs of a return to form in the last game when he scored 24 off 15 balls.
Jason Holder is one of the best players to have given his all-round skills. He is a top bowler and a very handy batter down the order.
