Toss Prediction
The wicket at Ranchi can get a bit slow at times, but it generally is a good surface to bat on. The venue has hosted just one T20 international so far. It was played between India and Sri Lanka last year which the former won by 69 runs after posting 196 in the first innings. So expect the toss-winning team to bat first in this match.

India Team News & Playing 11
Team News
Shikhar Dhawan, who was on leave for the ODI series, has returned for the T20I series. Fast bowler Ashish Nehra and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik have also made a comeback into the squad. Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur are the ones to have been left out.
Key Players
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli are the big three guns for India. Rohit has scores in excess of 50 in his last three ODI innings while Dhawan has a fifty in the only T20I at this ground. Kohli has four consecutive T20I fifties and he will be the linchpin of this Indian batting lineup. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal troubled the Aussies in the ODIs and they are likely to trouble them in the T20s as well. Jasprit Bumrah is a specialist death bowler and he will be the key towards the end of the Australian innings.
Recent Form
India have played five T20 internationals this year and have won three of those. Their most recent T20 action came in Sri Lanka last month where they beat the hosts by seven wickets. Prior to that, they defeated England 2-1 at home before losing a one-off game against the West Indies.

Team News
The selectors have given a break to Pat Cummins who has flown back home to freshen up for the upcoming Ashes series. Andrew Tye, who hasn't played a game since dislocating his shoulder in this year's IPL, is set to be his like-for-like replacement. Uncapped pace bowler Jason Behrendorff is also one of the inclusions in the squad.
Key Players
David Warner, Aaron Finch and Steven Smith form the core of the Australian batting. Finch is coming off a century and a fifty from the three ODIs he played while Warner returned to form during the second-half of the series. Smith has had ordinary knocks in his last two games and he will be raring to reverse that here. Nathan Coulter-Nile has caused plenty of problems for the Indian batsmen on this tour and he will continue to be the most threatening in Australia's pace attack. Kane Richardson has also been impressive and the hosts will be wary of him as well.
Recent Form
Australia, in their last six T20 internationals, have three wins and as many defeats. Their last T20I series was played at home against Sri Lanka which they ended up losing 1-2. The Aussies played a two-match series against the same opposition prior to this in Sri Lanka where they emerged victorious by 2-0.

India vs Australia Head to Head
India and Australia have never met in a T20 International at the JSCA International Stadium Complex. The two teams however have faced each other 13 times in the past in this format with the hosts leading the scoreline 9-4.
India vs Australia 1st T20 Betting Odds
India were clearly the better side in the recent ODI series and they could have easily clean swept Australia had they not experimented with their lineup in the fourth match. The hosts are in red-hot form across all formats of the game at the moment and they are going into the first T20 international as favorites to win at 1.71 with 1xbet and 1.61 with Bet365. Australia have a refreshed squad for this series and they might still be ruing their ODI series loss. The visitors are outsiders for this game at 2.36 with Betfair and 2.30 with Bet365.
India vs Australia 1st T20 Prediction
Australia haven't had that much success in the shortest format, losing 43 out of the 93 matches they have played thus far. Moreover, they are yet to win a T20 international in India - they have lost all their previous three encounters here. The tourists will also be wary of the fact that they have six consecutive defeats against India in T20Is. The Aussies are already low on confidence and to make matters worse, they will be without Pat Cummins - the only other bowler who had really troubled the Indian batsmen aside Coulter-Nile. Unlike Australia, India have retained the core of their ODI squad and the return of Shikhar Dhawan will bolster their batting even more. Although T20 cricket is fickle in nature and Australia are still a pretty good side, we predict India to come out tops in this match.
Final Verdict: Back India to beat Australia in the first T20 at 1.71 with 1xbet and 1.61 with Bet365.
