Toss Prediction
In the previous four one-day internationals that have been played at the Edgbaston, the side batting second has emerged victorious on three occasions. Toss therefore will be an important factor here and the team that wins it might look to have a bowl first. India have won three times out of four when they have chased at this ground and so we advise placing a bet on them if they bat second in this match.

India Team News & Playing 11
Team News
Manish Pandey has not yet recovered from the side strain he had sustained during the IPL and has therefore been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Dinesh Karthik who last played ODI cricket for India in the 2014 Asia Cup has been named as Pandey's replacement.
Key Players
Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan will be the key batsmen in this stellar Indian batting lineup. Kohli has the best batting average in ODIs from the squad and while Dhawan has 176 runs from three innings at Edgbaston at an average of 88, Rahane has a century in his solitary innings here. Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are coming off a terrific IPL season and these two will be the key in India's seam attack. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be relied upon heavily in the spin department.
Recent Form
India have played only one ODI series so far this year and that was played at home against England in January where the hosts ended up winning 2-1. Prior to this, they took on New Zealand in another home series which was won by them 3-2. So the men in blue will be going into this game having won five of their last eight matches.

Pakistan Team News & Playing 11
Team News
After failing to pass a couple of fitness tests ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, top-order batsman Umar Akmal has been asked to come back from England. Pakistan selectors are now considering between Haris Sohail and Umar Amin for Akmal's replacement.
Key Players
Shoaib Malik has scored the most number of runs for Pakistan in ODIs. He is the most experienced member in the side and provides stability in the middle order. He also has four wickets from as many matches at Edgbaston and could be handy with the ball as well. Allrounder Imad Wasim is another key player for Pakistan who has the ability to take the game away from the opposition. Shadab Khan had a successful tour of the West Indies and the legspinner will be one of the major threats for the Indian batsmen.
Recent Form
Pakistan have played two bilateral ODI series so far this year - one against Australia in January and one against the West Indies that concluded in April. While they were hammered 1-4 by Australia, they beat the Windies in their own backyard 2-1. What this means is that Pakistan have lost five of their past eight one-day internationals.

India vs Pakistan Head to Head in ODIs
A total of 123 one-day internationals have been played between these two nations in the past and Pakistan seem to have an upper hand here having won 72 of them. India however have a better recent record, beating Pakistan six times in their previous nine attempts. Both teams have one win each in the two matches they have played against each other at Edgbaston.
India vs Pakistan Betting Odds
India are the defending champions and they will be playing in the same country where they went on to win all five of their matches last time in the 2013 edition. And taking a look into the history, Kohli and Co. will be the more confident side ahead of this high-profile encounter as they have beaten Pakistan in every game of the ICC World Cup, be it the 50-over or T20 format. So just as expected, India start off as clear favourites to win this match at 1.53 with betfair and 1.44 with bet365. Pakistan are outsiders at 2.52 with Betfair and 2.75 with Bet365.
India vs Pakistan Prediction
While India have a pristine 11-0 win record against Pakistan in the 50-over and T20 World Cup, the latter have a slightly better record in the Champions Trophy tournament with two wins and one defeat. When these two teams met in the 2013 edition, it was India who came out on top and registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory. Their last encounter came back in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and it was India who ended up winning without breaking much of a sweat.
Recent records also point to the fact that the men in blue have been more dominant over the men in green. Pakistan will look to give their all to overcome their arch-rivals but it will be a tough challenge for them to beat an in-form Indian team. We thus predict India to win this Group B match
Final Verdict: Back India to beat Pakistan in the Group B match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at 1.53 with betfair and 1.44 with bet365.
